Occupational Health and Safety Program for Personnel and Students Working with Laboratory Animals

All new personnel and students must enroll in the Occupational Health and Safety Programs for Personnel and Students Working with Laboratory Animals (Program) by completing and returning the attached ARF Exposure Assessment Form and must be added to an active IACUC protocol prior to gaining access to ARF. The University of Northern Colorado's Occupational Health and Safety program is for personnel and student that come into contact with animal, unfixed animal tissues or body fluids, or animal bedding, or who enter the Animal Research Facility during the course of their duties. Remember, it is the responsibility of the academic unit, principal investigators (PI), departmental directors, and facility managers to identify individuals in their department and/or laboratory who must be enrolled tin the program, inform them of the process, and provide relevant training.

Additionally, those previously enrolled in the Program and who do not have restrictions must review the Program and complete the attached ARF Employee Exposure Information Update Form. If you currently have restrictions, are required to wear a respirator, please contact EHS at 970-351-2446 to complete the required forms and fit testing.

SEND ALL COMPLETED FORMS TO: Environmental Health and Safety at Parson Hall, Campus Box 57, 501 20th Street, Greeley, CO 80639.

If you have any questions or suggestions, please contact Laura Martin, Director of Compliance and Operations, 970-351-2842, or Ron Mills, EHS, 970-351-1963.
