Explore our wide variety of residence halls, apartments and university-owned houses located right on campus. Each building has its own character, environment and personality.

By living on campus, you’ll have many opportunities to meet new people, learn about and appreciate new cultures and backgrounds, make lifelong friends, develop interpersonal skills and develop a sense of community. On-campus living also helps you develop life strategies and gain independence which makes life more convenient. This can make your transition to college life as smooth as possible.

A Place to Call Home

UNC’s residence halls, apartments, and university-owned houses offer all UNC students a great place to call home. Living on campus helps you get integrated into the campus community, and you will live close to your classes and campus resources.

UNC also offers unique programs in our residential facilities including Residential Learning Communities and Specialized HousingFaculty in Residence, Coaches in Residence, pet-friendly housing options and gender-inclusive housing spaces in nearly all of our facilities. UNC Bears living on campus are at the heart of the action and community.

Live on Campus Requirements 2025 - 2026

All newly enrolled students who meet the criteria outlined below, are required by university policy to live-on campus for two-full semesters.
