On-Campus Housing

Explore our wide variety of residence halls, apartments and university-owned houses located right on campus. Each building has its own character, environment and personality.

By living on campus, you’ll have many opportunities to meet new people, learn about and appreciate new cultures and backgrounds, make lifelong friends, develop interpersonal skills and develop a sense of community. On-campus living also helps you develop life strategies and gain independence which makes life more convenient. This can make your transition to college life as smooth as possible.

A Place to Call Home

UNC’s residence halls, apartments, and university-owned houses offer all UNC students a great place to call home. Living on campus helps you get integrated into the campus community, and you will live close to your classes and campus resources.

UNC also offers unique programs in our residential facilities including Residential Learning Communities and Specialized Housing, Faculty in Residence, Coaches in Residence, pet-friendly housing options and gender-inclusive housing spaces in nearly all of our facilities. UNC Bears living on campus are at the heart of the action and community.

Live on Campus Requirements 2025 - 2026

All newly enrolled students who meet the criteria outlined below, are required by university policy to live-on campus for two-full semesters.

  • Are 20 years of age (or younger) on the first day of classes for the fall term of the academic year;
  • Enrolled in six (6) or more credits at the UNC Greeley Campus;
  • Have not requested and been granted an exemption prior to the start of their chosen entry term. Students will be able to petition to be released from this requirement for the following reasons:
    • Active Military Service
    • Change in Family Circumstance
    • Dependency of a Minor Child
    • Financial Hardship
    • Graduation (Outside of Contract Timeline)
    • Job (which requires you to live away from the local area, during the academic year)
    • Marriage
    • Pregnancy
    • Qualifying Disability
    • Sexual Violence
    • Student Teaching (which requires you to live away from the local area, during the academic year)
    • Study Abroad at another institution (which requires you to live away form the local area, during the academic year)
    • Study Abroad at UNC ending
    • University Sponsored Internship (which requires you to live away from the local area, during the academic year)
  • Are not living in the local area with their legal guardian;
  • Are a first-time, first-year student (as defined by the Office of Admissions)
  • Are a transfer student (as defined by the Office of Admissions) who has not previously enrolled at another accredited institution for at-least two consecutive semesters at full-time status, or, who earned fewer than 24 credit hours by the start of the term (excluding all dual/concurrent enrollment credits).
  • Credits earned through Advanced Placement (AP), International Baccalaureate (IB), College-Level Examination Program (CLEP) or concurrent enrollment with high school do not apply
  • UNC defines the Local Area as students living with their parent or guardian in the following ZIP Codes: 80513, 80520, 80522, 80523, 80524, 80525, 80527, 80528, 80530, 80534, 80537, 80538, 80539, 80542, 80543, 80546, 80547, 80550, 80551, 80553, 80610, 80615, 80620, 80621, 80622, 80623, 80624, 80631, 80632, 80633, 80634, 80638, 80639, 80644, 80645, 80646, 80650, and 80651.
