Limited Submission Competitions

In Limited Submission proposals, the sponsor limits organizations, colleges, departments and/or PIs to submitting only one proposal. Therefore, if more than one individual, team, or organizational unit wishes to apply, an internal competition must take place.

This is a list of 2025 limited submissions programs:


Focus on Recruiting Emerging Climate and Adaptation Scientists and Transformers

Proposals due: January 29, 2025 - Track 2 Planning Grant proposals due April 30, 2025

Seeks to facilitate graduate career preparation to a student-centered model with a particular emphasis on building entrepreneurial and innovation capacity at emerging research institutions.

Possible Applications:

An eligible organization may submit only two (2) proposals.

An individual may serve as (PI) or co-PI on only one (1) proposal.

State of Colorado - OEDIT: Opportunity Now Colorado

Proposals due: February 7, 2025

Opportunity Now Colorado provides grant funds to incentivize the creation of new and proven programs that connect Coloradans to in-demand, high-skill, high-wage occupations in these key sectors: Behavioral Health, Education, Early Childhood Education, Health Care, Infrastructure – including Information Technology 

Possible Applications:

UNC can submit only one application for this program.

Hispanic-Serving Institutions: Enriching Learning, Programs and Student Experiences (HSI:ELPSE)

Proposals due: February 21, 2024

Welcomes projects that look to implement, test and refine promising practices and/or conduct research related to broadening participation or improving recruitment, retention, graduation and other positive outcomes for undergraduates in STEM.

Possible Applications:

Implementation and Evaluation Proposals: Institutions may submit up to three (3) proposals per solicitation deadline, regardless of level.

An individual may be listed as PI or Co-PI on at most two (2) proposals per submission deadline.

Hispanic Serving Institutions: Equitable Transformation in STEM Educaation (ETSE)

Proposals due: August 27, 2025

Supports projects designed to catalyze change and help HSIs meet students where they are, accounting for their assets and the challenges they may face. 

Possible Applications:

Institutional Transformation Project Track – Limited to one (1) proposal per Institution.

An individual may only serve as a PI or co-PI on one (1) proposal per track.

This is a list of past limited submission programs:

Louis Stokes Alliances for Minority Participation (LSAMP)

Proposals due: September 15, 2024

An alliance-based program, whereby a group of institutions of higher education work together to diversify the nation's STEM workforce by increasing the number of STEM baccalaureate and graduate degrees awarded to persons from LSAMP populations.

Possible Applications:

Limited to one (1) Alliance Grant & Alliance Proposals per institution.

Up to two (2) BD-Master's proposals may be submitted from an alliance.

Up to two (2) BD-Doctoral proposals may be submitted from an alliance.
