World Languages & Cultures
Humanities & Social Sciences
Hello Central Coalition Residents!
Welcome to the UNC Housing & Residential Education community!
My name is Karla Del Carpio and I am a professor in the Department of World Languages and Cultures, Humanities and Social Sciences at UNC. I also have the pleasure of being Faculty in Residence (FIR), which means I live on campus and I have the great opportunity to have different programs (activities) with residents. One of the programs that I have is Amigos Time, which usually takes place on Mondays. During this activity, residents and I get together to have some snacks and beverages to relax and to talk about the topics of your choice such as your hobbies, academic or personal interests, travel plans, concerns, etc. It is a time for us to spend some time together and to get know each other. From time to time, I also like to stop by your dorm to say hi, to share some snacks and to make sure you feel involved in the community. It is important to me that you feel cared for and that you know that we’re all part of the same FAMILIA =). We also have potlucks to try the dishes you like and to relax especially when the exams period takes place. Please know that I am always open to suggestions or ideas you may have about the programs you’d like to have.
I am sure it’ll be a very productive academic year for each of you and that through our positive interactions we’ll develop a wonderful relationship. I am looking forward to meeting each of you in person! =)
Good luck with this new academic enriching experience!!!
Sincerely,
Karla Del Carpio
