Lead On Camp

Join UNC Housing and Residential Education for Lead On Camp, a leadership camp for incoming first year students August 12-16, 2023!

Our one-week program introduces you to campus, provides leadership training and opens opportunities to get involved at UNC, making your transition to campus as smooth as possible.

Costs

Lead On Camp costs $100 per person. Cost includes: sessions, workshops, meals and a t-shirt.

Meet the Staff

Elijah Ruddick (he/him) is a sophomore Theatre Arts-Design and Technology major with a minor in Music. When asked what he is looking forward to for Lead On this year he said, "Meeting everyone!" Elijah describes himself as shy, nerdy and happy. Currently, Elijah works for Campus Recreation in Competitive Sports and will be one of our Lead On Facilitators this year.

Payton Wilder (he/him) is currently a senior Business Management major. Payton is looking forward to all the activities within Lead On and as a matter of fact, Lead On is where Payton is most involved on campus! Payton says he is loud, energetic and kind. Payton is a returning Lead On Facilitator and cannot wait to meet everyone!

Ariana Pasquini (she/her) is a sophomore Communications major with a minor in Media Studies. This is her second year doing Lead On, and her first as a facilitator. Ariana hopes to help incoming Bears find a community on campus and to help build and foster relationships of her own! She describes herself as passionate, inquisitive and bubbly. Ariana is also involved on campus at the Center for Women and Gender Equity.

Blake Cestone (he/him) is a senior Theatre Studies major with a minor in Film. Blake will be graduating in December of 2022 but is still actively involved with Lead On and being a student leader with the campus ministry Cru. Blake is looking forward to meeting the incoming first-year students and helping them build community and make memories before classes start. Blake says he is funny, caring and energetic.

Brecken Lusk (he/him) is a sophomore Psychology and Biological Science major with a focus on Pre-Health and Bio-Med and a minor in Philosophy. Brecken is involved with the Residence Hall Association, National Residence Hall Honorary and Lead On. As a self-described spontaneous and clever individual, he is looking forward to meeting incoming first-year students and helping them establish themselves at UNC.

Grace Retterer (she/her) is a sophomore Art Education major who was involved in Younglife and the Art Guild and hopes to get even more involved this upcoming year. As a caring, creative and friendly person, Grace is looking forward to meeting and mentoring incoming students, as well as creating a fun environment for them to learn and become leaders!

Nathan Wetzel (he/they) is a sophomore Theatre Education major with a minor in English, and when asked to describe himself he said he is outgoing, caring and funny. Nathan has been involved previously with the Residence Hall Association and National Residence Hall Honorary and is looking forward to getting to meet new people and of course being able to move in early!

Makle Richards (he/him) is a sophomore Graphic Design major with a minor in Digital Marketing. Makle is currently a member of Delta Sigma Phi and avid attendee of the student art exhibitions on campus. Makle says he is looking forward to blasting off to leadership and getting to know the incoming participants.

Alex Hovick (he/him) is a senior Mathematics major and Computer Science Minor and like Makle is currently involved with Delta Sigma Phi on campus. Alex is looking forward to meeting incoming students and helping build better leaders! When asked to describe himself, Alex said, "Everything I'm not made me everything I am."

Cheyenne Bateman (she/her) is currently a sophomore Graphic Design major who says she are looking forward to introducing UNC to the incoming students. Cheyenne says she is artistic, friendly and adventurous. She was involved last year in the Pottery Club and the Hawaii Club.

Keannen Stephens (he/him) is a sophomore Marketing major and Psychology and Digital Marketing minor. Keannen is currently involved with Lead On and Delta Sigma Phi on campus and is very excited to get the chance to show new students our campus and all the friends, clubs and opportunities that come with being a Bear!

Patrick McCleish (he/him) is a senior Music Education major who has been involved beyond Lead On with Delta Sigma Phi, as the Vice President of UNC's American String Teacher's Association chapter and as a member of the Order of Omega. Patrick says he is looking forward to meeting some new people and helping everyone feel welcome at UNC.

Nathan Stromberg (he/him) is a senior Communications Studies major who has been quite involved with Lead On for the past few years, as well as with Delta Sigma Phi and the Interfraternity Council as Vice President. Nathan is looking forward to helping new students build lasting friendships as they learn what it is like to be in college. Nathan says he is dedicated, outgoing and organized and is going to be one of the Lead On Coordinators for this upcoming year.

Danny Lyons (he/him) is a senior History Secondary Education major who has worked for the Office of Housing and Residential Education, been an Orientation leader, been a member of the Bear Hug Club and the History Club and has been involved with Lead On for a couple years. Danny says he is looking forward to being a Lead On Coordinator and rounding out his time with Lead On in his fourth year.
