Undergraduate Students

Over 50 undergraduate students have worked on projects in the lab, and several are first authors or co-authors on publications. UNC has a long-standing and strong tradition of inclusion of students in the creation of new knowledge, and participation in faculty research programs is one of the best ways to ensure a deep connection to one's education. Tim Crowther

Tim Crowther

Tim Crowther was born and raised in Colorado Springs and has always viewed himself as a naturalist. In Colorado Springs, Tim balanced a busy schedule working at a local reptile shop while getting his Associate degree of Biology at Pikes Peak Community College before transferring to UNC to finish his undergraduate studies, majoring in Cellular and Molecular Biology. He is interested in the pharmaceutical potential that resides within the toxic secretions of venomous animals, specifically the diverse suborder of snakes. Beginning in January 2021, he will be assisting graduate students in the lab with biochemical analysis of venoms and proteomic assays. In his free time, he takes care of and breeds a plethora of snakes, geckos, tree frogs, and marine creatures and enjoys outdoor activities.
