Recruitment Information
The IRIS Project aims to improve the knowledge and skills of interpreters working in rural areas. In order to provide this training, IRIS will recruit 20 facilitators/mentors as part of the instructional team and 80 working interpreters as participants.
Instructional Candidates
Instructional facilitator and mentor candidates must be working, community-based interpreters with 6+ years of interpreting experience and mentor training prior to facilitating/ mentoring an online cohort of participants. Candidates commit to supporting rural working interpreters for 1.5 years.
Interpreter Candidates
Interpreter candidates must be rural working interpreters who are admitted to UNC, have the required technology
to participate in the training program, and attend trainings as established by IRIS.
Candidates commit to an online cohort and on-going participation for 1.5 years.

The IRIS leadership team, facilitators, mentors, and IRIS:CORE Initiative participants attend a professional conference together, location and dates TBD.
