Induction Program

Upon successful completion of the 9-month IRIS: CORE Initiative, participants will be invited to further their development via the IRIS Induction experience. This 150-hour hybrid (onsite and online) learning environment provides IRIS participants with the foundation and tools needed for continued self-directed and lifelong learning. This experience focuses on two primary ideas: (1) participants’ connection to this work and (2) enhancing participants' employability toolkit. 

Throughout the IRIS Induction, participants will experience the following:

Upon completion of this program, participants will be able to:  

1. Sustain a network of support with other rural interpreters; 
2. Construct an up-to-date portfolio to enhance their employability as interpreters;
3. Integrate contemporary ethical business practices; and
4. Differentiate interpreting product apart from the person via an Integrated Model of Interpreting framework.

*Successful completion does not provide endorsement of the participant's language fluency or skills as an interpreter.
