The Engaged Library: Jennifer Nutefall on the Public Purposes of Academic Libraries.
One of the identified high impact practices (Kuh, 2008) for higher education is service learning/community-based learning. What is the role of academic libraries in engaged learning generally and service learning specifically? How does course integrated research strengthen course learning outcomes and social justice? Dean Nutefall’s presentation will summarize her research over the last decade focusing on libraries engagement in service learning and campus/community partnerships, offer examples from multiple institutions, and outline suggestions for faculty interested in incorporating service learning/community based learning in their course.
