What is Beta Beta Beta?
Beta Beta Beta (TriBeta) is an honor society for students, particularly undergraduates, dedicated to improving the understanding and appreciation of biological study and extending boundaries of human knowledge through scientific research.
Since its founding in 1922, more than 200,000 persons have been accepted into lifetime membership, and more than 626 chapters have been established throughout the United States and Puerto Rico. For more information, please visit the national Tribeta website.
The Phi Omicron chapter of Tribeta was established at UNC in 2004. Since then, over 120 students have been inducted. The primary goal of Phi Omicron is to improve the education and personal/professional growth of its members by supporting their novel research activities at UNC. This is accomplished by offering networking with other biology students and faculty members, encouraging the development of career goals and plans, opportunities for gaining leadership experience, providing funding for research activities of members through a competitive grant application process, and offering venues for presenting research findings such as local and regional conferences.
