Governor Polis Reappoints Monfort and Campos-Spitze to UNC’s Board of Trustee

Reappointments to last through the end of 2028.

Governor Jared Polis recently announced the reappointment of Dr. Brenda Campos-Spitze and alumnus Dick Monfort, ‘76, both of Greeley, to the University of Northern Colorado’s Board of Trustees. Their reappointments are for four-year terms, through Dec. 31, 2028.

Campos-Spitze, a local family physician at Sunrise Community Health, was initially appointed to the board last June for a shortened term through 2024 to fill the vacancy created by the resignation of former Trustee Patricia Barela Rivera.

Attracted by Greeley’s diversity, Campos-Spitze and her husband moved to Greeley in 2014 to complete their three-year family medicine residency training at the Banner North Colorado Family Medicine Residency Training program. They have since made Greeley their home.

In addition to her service as a trustee for the university, Campos-Spitze also serves as a school board director for Greeley-Evans School District 6 and is a member of the advisory board for UNC’s proposed College of Osteopathic Medicine.

Monfort, one of five UNC alumni trustees and long-time supporter of the university, is the current board chair. He spent 25 years working in the cattle business in Colorado and is the owner/chairman and chief executive officer for the Colorado Rockies Baseball Club. Monfort has held leadership roles on numerous public and philanthropic boards, serving as chairman of the Colorado Economic Development Commission, the Board of Directors of University of Colorado Health and is a member of the Kenneth W. Monfort College of Business Dean's Leadership Council. He is a strong supporter of not only the university, but also the state of Colorado, agriculture industry and higher education.

UNC’s Board of Trustees consists of seven members appointed by the governor, plus a non-voting faculty member and student who are elected by their peers. More information about the board is available on the Board of Trustees website.
