The University of Northern Colorado’s undergraduate nursing program was once again ranked among the best Bachelor of Science in Nursing Programs in the nation by U.S. News & World Report.
The 2025 rankings, released on Sept. 24, show the program jumped 32 spots from last year to No. 54. It’s now ranked in the top 8% of 686 other programs in the nation. It’s the second year in a row the program has climbed in the rankings and it’s the highest the program has been ranked since 2021. Last May, the university’s graduate programs also received high marks with U.S. News ranking the UNC’s master’s in Nursing at No. 85.
“We are quite honored and humbled by this recognition of our undergraduate program,” said Melissa Henry, professor and director of UNC's School of Nursing. “The acknowledgment highlights our shared commitment toward excellence in nursing education and the dedication of our faculty and staff toward our students’ success.”
Dean of the College of Natural and Health Sciences, Kamel Haddad, also shared his enthusiasm that the quality of UNC’s nursing program has been recognized by experts in the field.
“UNC's strength in the health sciences positions us to excel in meeting the health care needs of our region and beyond,” said Haddad.
Each year, U.S. News evaluates institutions of higher education across the country based on a wide variety of data points. According to their website, the rankings are based solely on the judgment of deans and senior faculty members of nursing schools and departments at institutions around the country. To be considered, nursing schools must be accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education or the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing.
