Scholarships

UNC offers a wide variety of scholarships, both internal and external, for Geography, GIS and Sustainability students to take advantage of. Please see the page below for a breakdown of each of these scholarships, where to find them, application requirements and more.

    • Reischer Scholarship  

      Requirements:complete FAFSA and UNC Application (in URSA) 

      Award: between $4,000 and $11,000 per academic year

    • Robert and Ludie Dickeson Presidential Prize for Leadership Award

      The Robert & Ludie Dickeson Presidential Prize for Leadership Award was established by the eighth president of the University of Northern Colorado, Robert Dickeson, and his wife, Ludie, in December of 1990. The award was created to acknowledge and reward student leadership on the UNC campus. 

      $1,800 award – Awarded to two students. 

      Eligibility 

      To be eligible for this esteemed award, a student must: 

      • Be a Senior
      • Obtain a GPA of 3.0 or higher
      • Have graduated Summer 2022, December 2022, or be graduating May 2023
      • Have Two (2) letters of nomination
      • One letter from a faculty and/or staff member
      • AND one letter from a student and/or student organization
      • Have all coursework completed by Spring Commencement.
      • Be considered a student leader by their peers, faculty, staff, and UNC community

  • External Scholarships
    • Community Foundation of Northern Colorado 

      The Community Foundation is honored to work with donors who make an impact on the lives of students from Northern Colorado and the Eastern Plains through scholarship funds established at the Foundation.

      Award: between $1,000 and $5,000

    • COSI: Colorado Opportunity Scholarship Initiative 

      COSI provides multi-year grants throughout the state to provide funding towards programs that help prepare students for postsecondary education, as well as support them through completion.

    • Colorado Women’s Education Foundation

      CWEF’s goal is to provide more scholarships to non-traditional aged women throughout Colorado. 

      Requirements: Under 25, woman identifying, Colorado Resident

      Award: $2,000+

    • GIS Colorado Scholarships 

      Undergraduate scholarships are awarded to students who demonstrate excellence in the application of geospatial tools and are intended to support student learning and experience with geospatial technologies and tools.  

      Requirements:Map, Letter of Recommendation, Resume

      Award: Between $500 and $1,500

    • Jim Roberts Scholarship  

      This scholarship is awarded annually to a student currently enrolled in an environmental program at any accredited university or college in the United States, its territories or Canada.

      Requirements:3 letters of recommendation, 1 essay

      Award: $2,000

    • Zonta Club of Greeley Scholarship for an Outstanding Female STEM Student 

      Zonta Club of Greeley will offer a new scholarship this year for exceptional women enrolled in collegiate STEM programs. 

      The local award is $2,000, a regional winner with receive $5,000, and 31 international winners will earn $5,000 each. The local winner's application will be forwarded to the regional competition with the endorsement of Greeley Zonta Club.  

      Eligibility:   

      • A woman enrolled in an accredited university, majoring in a STEM flied by September 1, 2023; 
      • Who is between her second year and a Master's degree but NOT graduating before April 2024. 
      • Who has an superior academic record. 
      • Who has no familial connection with members of Zonta. 

      APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS:  

      • Applications must be typed, in English, and include academic  transcript, enrollment verification, and letters of reference. All necessary forms are attached to this email 
      • Deadline is 5 p.m. MST, April 10, 2023 to be submitted online to greeleyzontaclub@gmail.com. 
      • Awards will be disbursed directly to the institution to be credited to the student's account.
