Spring Semester COVID Update
From UNC Coronavirus email, Dec. 30, 2021
While we are watching the situation closely, UNC’s plans for the spring semester remain unchanged at this time and there is currently no intention of pivoting to remote instruction. We look forward to bringing our community together safely for another semester of in-person instruction, activities and events on campus. The university’s indoor mask mandate, which has been effective at limiting the spread of the virus, will remain in effect for the foreseeable future. When the university reopens next week, employees should plan to work on campus or in the hybrid manner that was previously communicated by their supervisors as no new changes or restrictions to on-campus work are being implemented at this time. UNC’s free drive thru COVID-19 testing site also remains available seven days a week from 8 a.m.-6 p.m. Colorado’s COVID-19 mobile vaccination bus will be on campus (south of Campus Commons) Jan. 7-10, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.

NoCo 3MT® is a professional development competition that spotlights the dissertation projects of doctoral students at the University of Northern Colorado. Students completing dissertations in any UNC doctoral program are eligible to submit a 3MT proposal. The competition supports the capacity of graduate students to present their dissertation projects in three minutes, in language that can be easily understood by a public audience. This event is sponsored by the UNC Graduate School. The winner of the NoCo 3MT will receive a monetary prize and will go on to compete in the Colorado Graduate Schools 3MT in spring 2022 semester.

Graduate Teaching Assistant Pay Bonus
from UNC President Andy Feinstein's email, Dec. 12, 2021
Beginning Jan. 1, 2022, we will be implementing compensation adjustments for all faculty and staff. Full-time faculty and staff will receive a $1,500 increase to their base salary; this increase will be prorated for part-time employees. The minimum wage for staff will be increased to $15/hour and the minimum wage for student employees will be increased to $14/hour. Adjunct faculty and graduate teaching assistants will receive a one-time payment of $250 as well. Additional investments will be made in units that support the health, safety and well-being of our students, faculty and staff — those details will be developed in the spring. The total investment in faculty, staff and student employee compensation increases is approximately $3.2M. We have created an FAQ page with more details.
