Covid 19 Educator Preparation Field-Based Resources
As the COVID-19 crisis continues to evolve rapidly, please check here for the latest information related to the University of Northern Colorado (UNC) Educator Preparation programs. For COVID-19 information pertinent to the entirety of UNC, please see the UNC COVID-19 INFORMATION AND RESOURCES page.
First and foremost, be assured the health and safety of our teacher candidates, UNC faculty, UNC staff, and our colleagues and students in field-based partner schools is our first priority. Because of the ever changing environment we find ourselves in, we will remain in regular contact with UNC administration, State and local health officials, the Colorado Department of Education, the Colorado Department of Higher Education and our partner school administrators to ensure best practices are maintained. Timely communication will be provided via updates to this website.
The ultimate goal of UNC’s educator preparation programs remains constant – preparing excellent educators. Knowing that the realities of today’s classrooms are fluid and varied, flexibility will be a key component to assure quality experiences for our teacher candidates and our partner schools. The challenges added to education by Covid-19 provide an additional opportunity for UNC and our teacher candidates to support our partners in the field. UNC resources and the advanced pedagogical and technological skills of our candidates are available to help our partners fill the gaps created by pandemic restrictions in schools.
UNC acknowledges the expertise of our partners in the field and will honor and abide by each district/schools’ policies related to the health and safety of their students and personnel in accordance with all State health directives.
Field experience requirements and process remain in effect for all UNC educator preparation programs. In instances where meeting specific requirements posses significant challenges, UNC faculty and staff will work with each individual teacher candidate and their UNC supervisor to adjust the requirement while still meeting all program standards. UNC faculty and staff will also work with teacher candidates placed at schools that decide to use online/hybrid learning environments so that all field experience requirements can be met.
UNC is here to help! Please contact any of the UNC Educator Preparation personnel with questions, concerns, or requests. Contact Information
