The College of Education and Behavioral Sciences supports the belief that education is transformational; that candidates who successfully complete our professional education programs can make a difference in the lives of their students and clients.

The vision of the College is to lead conversations around issues of human enlightenment, social conscience, and mutual caring. This ideal includes helping candidates acquire the knowledge, the ability, and the will to impact all students' life chances. Our vision is to inspire in candidates a heightened and consequential sense of responsibility for stewardship of our schools and our communities.

UNC is committed to the inclusion of topics on diversity into teacher preparation programs.  It is critical for teacher candidates to understand issues pertinent to diversity.

Go On And Learn 

UNC's Go On and Learn (GOAL) is an inclusive higher education program at the University of Northern Colorado. GOAL is an opportunity for students with intellectual and developmental disabilities to attend college. It is a federally designated Comprehensive Transition Program for students with intellectual and developmental disabilities . The certificate and curriculum were approved by the U.S. Department of Education. Learn more about the program here.

Cumbres Program

Cumbres is a scholarship and support program for students who are planning to become Culturally and Linguistically Diverse teachers. Our goal is to support, encourage and prepare you to be an effective and compassionate teacher of English learners. We are committed to student success and making you the most qualified teacher candidate when you graduate. As a member of the program, you are expected to participate fully in the four components: Living Community, Learning Community, Mentorship and Leadership Development.
