Director of Clinical Services & Licensed Psychologist

she/her/ella

Education & Training

I completed my Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and my Master’s in Counseling & Guidance at New Mexico State University. I went on to earn my doctorate degree in Counseling Psychology at Indiana University and completed my internship at the Colorado State University Health Network Counseling Services. While I am a generalist by training, my formative experiences focused on the mental health of college students, sexual health, and working with Latinx/e communities.

Current Roles

As the Director of Clinical Services, I coordinate, monitor, and evaluate our clinical services to ensure the highest quality of care for the UNC community. My role entails addressing continuously evolving needs, both immediate and longer-term, towards implementing solutions that address the needs of clients and campus partners while balancing the well-being of our staff and center.

As a member of our training team, I provide supervision to doctoral interns and staff at a post-doctoral level. Clinically, I also contribute to the success of our community by providing mental health services to students, faculty, and staff, and specialize in working with BIPOC mental health concerns.

Therapeutic & Supervision Approaches

As a therapist, I fundamentally believe that most mental health concerns occur in response to oppressive environments, histories, and situations. I also believe that relationships and community are an essential part of our healing as human beings and center the therapeutic relationship in the healing process. My approach is warm and supportive, yet gently challenging when opportunities for growth arise.

As a supervisor, I work from an Integrative Developmental Model and integrate pieces of my theoretical foundations, Feminist Theory and Interpersonal Process Theory. I enjoy helping trainees grow and gain comfort in integrating these components into their own work. I especially love cultivating the “art” of therapy in my work with trainees. As a Spanish speaker, I also enjoy providing bilingual supervision.

About Me

Although Colorado is home now, I am from a small town in southern New Mexico. In my spare time, I enjoy going on walks, home improvement projects, kickboxing, paddle boarding, and trying out food trucks and hole-in-the-wall restaurants. But really, I am a homebody at heart and love curling up on the couch watching comedies or Grey’s Anatomy.
