Gaining Experience as a Student

UNC's campus offers a multitude of ways to gain experience as a student. These can be paid, unpaid, or volunteer experiences, but remember that all experience is transferable and is beneficial to your future career. Below are some possible opportunities to network, gain transferable skills, and build your resume. 

• Part-Time Employment

  From Michener Library to Dining Services, there are multiple offices hiring students for part-time work. All on-campus positions are posted through Handshake and will note whether the positions are for work study or hourly pay.

  If you have questions about whether or not you qualify for work study awards, contact Financial Aid.

• Extracurricular Involvement

  Extracurriculars are a great way to explore interests, gain interpersonal skills, and learn about career-related values. Here are some of the ways to get involved on campus:
