UNC Receives Daniels Fund Grant to Provide Scholarships to Nontraditional Students
March 13, 2018
The Daniels Fund awarded the University of Northern Colorado $58,000 to provide scholarships to nontraditional students.
The funding from the organization’s Boundless Opportunity Scholarship program will go toward awarding scholarships between 2018-2020 to qualified UNC undergraduate students who identify as:
- Adults entering or returning to college
- GED recipients
- Veterans entering or returning to college
- Former foster care youth
- Individuals pursuing Early Childhood Education certification
“We know these types of students enroll here so it’s a good fit for us to support them with scholarships from this program, which focuses on improving their lives through education,” said project director Stephanie Torrez, UNC assistant vice president for Student Success.
UNC has a longstanding partnership with the Daniels Fund, a private charitable foundation dedicated to making life better for the people of Colorado, New Mexico, Utah, and Wyoming through its grants program, scholarship program, and ethics initiative (of which UNC is a collegiate partner). UNC has participated in the Boundless Opportunity Scholarship Program since 2003.
