The University of Northern Colorado (UNC) is pleased to announce the appointment of Dale Pratt as the university’s next vice president for Finance and Administration and chief financial officer effective November 1. This follows a national search launched in June.
Pratt has served as interim vice president for Finance and Administration since June 2022.
Prior to his interim appointment, Pratt served as the assistant vice president for Finance, with responsibility for leading the General Accounting Office and the Office of Budget and Financial Planning. He joined UNC in April 2020 as university aide to the chief financial officer.
Pratt began his career as a financial analyst for Thrifty Corporation, a 500-store retail pharmacy chain based in Los Angeles, California. In 1995, he returned to northern Colorado to join Lextron, Inc., where he worked for over a decade and held various leadership positions. Pratt has also worked in corporate financial, operations and executive management companies in a variety of industries, including serving as general manager of Burris Company, Inc. before joining UNC.
“I am pleased to welcome Dale to my leadership team,” said UNC President Andy Feinstein. “Dale is a collaborative, visionary partner and trusted advisor with significant experience in strategy development, problem solving, leadership and effective management. He cares deeply for UNC, and he is a proven leader with a strong record of accomplishments in all aspects assigned to the vice president role. I am confident that Dale’s expertise and partnership will help guide the work underway on our Rowing, Not Drifting 2030 strategic plan.”
“It is an honor and a privilege to join the excellent leadership team at UNC in this capacity,” Pratt said. “I originally arrived at UNC as a first-generation student after graduating from high school in rural, northeastern Colorado. My experience as a UNC student helped prepare me for success in my life and career, and I am committed to ensuring that today’s students realize the same benefits of a UNC degree.”
Pratt received his bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from UNC. As vice president for Finance and Administration, Pratt will manage the university’s budget and financial reporting functions, as well as oversee human resources, campus police, facilities, information and technology, and risk management.
