The UNC Jazz Lab Band 1 was selected to participate in the Jazz at Lincoln Center's inaugural Jack Rudin Jazz Championship from Jan. 18-19 at Frederick P. Rose Hall in New York City.
This two-day invitational features 10 well-regarded jazz programs from across the country.
"Having an opportunity to be on the stage at Lincoln Center with these other great bands is like our football team making the national playoffs," said Dana Landry, director of the UNC Jazz Studies program. "This is recognition of the great work of our faculty and students over a long period of time. We couldn’t be more excited."
