This award honors notable individuals who amplify and represent the council’s mission of promoting healthy nutrition and physical activity for all people. Dauenhauer’s research focuses on promoting school-based physical activity, leading to the development of resources to help children be more active throughout and after the school day.

“This recognition is special because the President’s Council has had a prominent presence in the health and fitness space since 1956," said Dauenhauer. "Many of the people that were recognized are doing such inspiring work in the field, so it was truly an honor to be around such talented and passionate people.”

Dauenhauer was one of eight recipients across the country to receive the award this year. According to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services website, the awardees have all served as influencers to make an impact in an area of the council’s mission, successfully working to improve lives through sports, physical activity, fitness and nutrition-related programs.
