Two university students, Sami Al-Gada and Hassan Tibwa, who rescued dozens in Sudan when the war broke out, will visit the University of Northern Colorado for a free event where they will recall their experiences and participate in a Q&A on Monday, Nov. 18, at 6 p.m., in the Campus Commons Performance Hall. A performance by a Ghanaian drum group will follow.
Al-Gada and Tibwa are mechanical engineering majors at the University of Khartoum and were featured in a New York Times article for their bravery in rescuing 60 diplomats with their taxi on April 15, 2023. The pair is now living in Miami as they try to enroll in a university.
