UNC releases an Annual Security and Fire Safety report by October 1 annually. This report informs the university community about current policies, procedures, crime prevention programs and campus crime statistics. The report includes:
- Crime statistics for the last three calendar years (2021, 2022 and 2023) on campus, within surrounding public property and in specific off-campus buildings or property (non-campus).
- Statistics regarding fires in on-campus residence facilities for the last three calendar years (2021, 2022, and 2023).
- Information on how to report a crime or a safety concern.
- Information on safety alerts, timely warnings and emergency notifications.
- Safety tips and security program information.
- Information about the university drug and alcohol policies and prevention programs.
- Interpersonal violence education, response, discipline and protective measures regarding sexual assault, domestic and dating violence and stalking.
This information is distributed in compliance with the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act and the Drug Free Schools and Communities Act. These acts require colleges and universities to annually disclose information on security and alcohol and drug policies and timely information about crime on and around campus. They also require the university to share information about security and safety-related procedures and crime and drug abuse prevention programs.
