The 16th Street Enhancement Project will create wider, even sidewalks and improve traffic safety along the 16th St. corridor. The new design will incorporate better landscaping and lighting and create more parking in the area.

According to the city, this first phase of construction is scheduled for the fall and winter as it requires underground work to the city’s utility lines. That work must be completed while the nearby irrigation ditch is dry and before it's used for spring operations. The city expects the majority of the aboveground work to roadways and parking will take place during summer break. The project is scheduled for completion in summer 2025.
