Join the University Libraries in celebrating Open Access Week Oct. 23-29. This week-long event serves as a platform for educating both students and faculty alike on the importance of open access (OA) materials and is an opportunity to appreciate the remarkable efforts of UNC faculty in integrating OA materials across campus.
OA materials are scholarly resources, including research articles, textbooks and educational content, made freely available to the public without any financial or legal barriers. OA facilitates the rapid dissemination of knowledge and encourages faculty and researchers to share their work, thereby advancing the frontiers of academic research and learning and fostering equity by removing barriers to accessing scholarship – both at UNC and worldwide.
For a comprehensive exploration of open access, UNC’s open access resolutions and OA journals at UNC, including the undergraduate research journal Ursidae, faculty and students are invited to visit the UNC Libraries Guide to Open Access.
