Full description: In August of 2022, the United States’ White House Office of Science and Technology (OSTP) released a memorandum on public access of federally funded research. This is known as the Nelson Memo, and it outlines the new requirements for faculty and students who conduct research that is federally funded. New policies require free, immediate, and equitable access to research and data. While new policies may not become effective until Dec. 31, many research projects are multi-year and researchers need to consider how this change in policy will change their publication venue choices and data plans. Join in on a conversation on the important points of the Nelson Memo and what new considerations researchers and scholars must contemplate.
