UNC’s Affordable and Open Educational Resources (AOER) Committee has extended the deadline for grant applications to convert courses to OER to Monday, Oct. 23.
Thanks to a grant of nearly $48,000 from the Colorado Department of Higher Education, UNC is expanding its commitment to open education by offering financial support to instructors who want to convert their courses to OER (Open Educational Resources) and/or ZTC (Zero Textbook Cost).
Grants of $2,000 are available for high-impact courses and $1,500 for all other courses.

UNC’s Affordable and Open Educational Resources Committee is now accepting grant applications in support of affordable learning.
The Colorado Department of Higher Education awarded UNC a grant of $47,897 for “Expanding OER@UNC: Developing Greater Pathways to ZTC, Course Improvements, and Growing UNC Instructor-Authored Materials into Shared Resources.” This money will support UNC instructors in several ways:
- Converting courses to OER (Open Educational Resources) and/or ZTC (Zero Textbook Cost). Grants of $2,000 are available for high-impact courses and $1,500 for all other courses. The deadline for these grant applications is Monday, Oct. 17, 2023.
- Developing digital learning resources to share with other UNC instructors through the UNCO_LE@RN repository on Canvas Commons. Proposals for these grants are accepted on a rolling basis until early spring 2024 or until all funds are allocated.
