October 27, 2020

Joelle Jenkins, a senior Environmental and Sustainability Studies major & Africana Studies and Biology minor, has been invited to present at a virtual event hosted by the Department of African American Studies at San Jose State University. On top of being a McNair Scholar, Joelle is also an intersectional activist and Black Birder/Mammalogist co-organizer, and is currently the President of the Student Leadership for Environmental Action Fund at UNC and the founder of @BlacademicUS; a handle on Twitter devoted to sharing the experiences of Black students in higher education.

Joelle's presentation, "Grad Prep 101: How to Organize for the Grad School Application", is intended to help students through the process of making a graduate school spreadsheet, creating packets for letter writers, and will provide other important information to consider when applying to graduate school.
