Dr. Aguirre is an Assistant Professor of Mexican American Studies. Before joining UNC, he completed his Ph.D. in History at the University of Texas at El Paso.
Dr. Aguirre is currently revising his dissertation “¡Grito!: Cultural Nationalism and the Chicana/o Insurgency in New Mexico, 1968-1979” for publication as a manuscript. His areas of interest include Chicana/o History, social movements, (anti)colonialism, power, and identity.
