UNC Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion House (1862 10th Avenue)

All new and returning graduate students are invited to attend this annual networking event. No registration necessary. Show up anytime. Partners and children welcome to attend. Street parking is free and parking in the lot adjacent to the Diversity House (V Lot) is free after 5 p.m. on weekdays (parking map). Food and non-alcoholic drinks provided by the UNC Graduate Student Association. Please enter through the main door; we will be using the back patio. Please sign in when you arrive and get a nametag.

Asian / Pacific Islander Welcome Dinner

Join other Asian / Pacific Islander students at UNC for this annual welcome dinner, hosted by the UNC Asian / Pacific American Student Services. No registration necessary. Street parking is free and parking in the University Center lot is free after 5 p.m. on weekdays (parking map). Join graduate student leaders of the Asian / Pacific Islander Union attending this event by meeting at the Information Desk seating area on the second floor of the University Center at 5:30 p.m. Questions? Join us for a deliciously fun Food Truck Rally. Food and beverages from Bright Side Coffee Co., Fat Tomato Inc., Edge Gourmet, That Sounds Good, The Rollin' Stone Wood Fired Pizza and The Waffle Lab will be available for purchase! Take a break during move in and recharge with some awesome food from local vendors. Parking is free on campus (most lots) on Aug. 19 and 20.

Serving as a bookend to commencement, this introduction to academia invites faculty and staff to welcome incoming students to UNC and the Bear Community. Students will meet university staff and student leadership, learn the fight song and may win prizes for knowing UNC trivia. No registration required. Parking is free on campus (most lots) on Aug. 19 and 20.

Kick-off the semester by checking out all UNC Dining Services has to offer with food tents full of variety! Then join the crowd at Bear Fest and win some UNC swag! Limited number of tickets for graduate students and partners / children covered by the UNC Graduate Student Association. You must register to receive tickets for this event. Parking is free on campus (most lots) on Aug. 19 and 20. Once you are registered, you will receive an email regarding ticket distribution.

It’s Bingo time! Join us for a fun night of Bingo and performances hosted by UNC Alumni Soña Rita and Zimmorah Mei and the Gender and Sexuality Resource Center. Featuring a very special guest from Season 11 of RuPaul's Drag Race: Honey Davenport! There will be two chances to win prizes presented by the Office of Student Life. No registration required. No registration necessary for this event, but you must be present at 7:45 a.m. for your breakfast to be covered by the UNC Graduate Student Association. Parking is free on campus (most lots) on Aug. 19 and 20. Meet outside the dining hall on Turner Green at 7:45 a.m. to be checked in. Limited number of tickets for graduate students and partners / children covered by the UNC Graduate Student Association.

Northern at Night is a giant block party to welcome all our Bears back on campus. Join us for food, inflatables, henna tattoos, caricature artists and more! No registration required. Most UNC parking is free on the weekends. Street parking near the Garden Theater is free.

Affinity groups are a way to provide a space to meet others that share similar interests, identities and to find community. The LGBTQ+ Graduate Affinity Group is supported by the Gender & Sexuality Resource Center.
