What is something you accomplished that you are really proud of?
I am most proud of my offspring. I am the proud parent of a teenager and an adult child, and their accomplishments & growth have really defined my life's purpose and effort. They are my favorite people and them being good people is the legacy I hope to leave behind. Outside of that, I am very proud to be the first doctor in my family. My dissertation is dedicated to the Black womxn/femmes who created and nurtured me & it is for them that I persist.

What is something that you'd like to share with students?
I live by the wisdom & foresight of the strong Black womxn & femmes that existed before me: Toni Morrison, Sonia Sanchez, Angela Davis, Audre Lorde, Octavia Butler, Michelle Obama, Kimberle Crenshaw, Patricia Hill Collins, Claudette Colvin, Alice Walker and others. Each of them create meaning and understanding for how to navigate this world without losing your understanding of self, and how to be your most authentic self at all times, in all ways. My hope is to share that ancestral knowledge, passion and purpose with every Black student who I meet and engage.
