Last November, former UNC Center for Urban Education student Truman Solverud made the news. He received the Everyday Champion Award—granted by the National Center for Learning Disabilities—for his extraordinary effort to help students with special learning needs acclimate to distance learning during the stay-at-home orders associated with the pandemic. Solverud is working as a culinary and special education teacher at Whiting High School in Laramie, Wyoming, and the Laramie Boomerang published an article about his award.
Solverud, a 2016 CUE graduate, recently reached out to tell us the story had been published. He said, “Thought I'd share with you all. Thanks for giving this nontraditional student such great prep.”
Congratulations to Solverud for his outstanding achievement and his commitment to his students. Read more via the Laramie Boomerang (subscription required to read full article).
