Born and raised in Detroit, Michigan, LaChaune DuHart enlisted in the United States Army. LaChaune enjoyed being stationed/TDY at Scofield Barracks Hawaii, Naval Base Guam, Fort Sam Houston, Thailand, and Papua New Guinea. She was later medically retired after being stationed at Fort Carson, Colorado. LaChaune graduated from Pikes Peak State College with an Associate degree in Social Work, Colorado State University of Pueblo with a Bachelor's degree in Social Work and Sociology, and Metropolitan State University of Denver with her Master's degree in Social Work. During her educational pursuits, she has served as a Student Veterans of America (SVA) and Phi Alpha President, Veteran Affairs (VA) student employee, VA School Certifying Official, Transition and Support Coordinator, and Assistant Director of Veteran Recruitment & Outreach.
LaChaune has served as an advisor for SVA, Peer Advising for Veteran Education (PAVE), the SALUTE Honor Society, and other organizations. She is also a Ph.D. in Social Work Candidate at Colorado State University.
LaChaune's areas of research and personal interest are related to mental health during veteran/military transition, competitive video gaming, closing the education age gap, veteran sex addiction, and healthy aging.
