Fellow Bears,

I am writing today to address a series of posts and comments on social media alleging sexual misconduct by members of our university community.

While the university cannot provide further details or comment on specific personnel matters, I want to affirm our commitment to creating a university community that supports the safety and well-being of all students, faculty, and staff.

We take seriously all allegations of misconduct. The type of behavior identified in the recent social media posts is never appropriate and will not be tolerated. The Office of Institutional Equity and Compliance (OIEC) serves as the civil rights compliance office for UNC. Anyone concerned about a possible violation of UNC's Non-Discrimination or Sexual Misconduct Policies may submit a report online or contact OIEC in person, by phone, or via email.

We also remain committed to supporting students, faculty, and staff who experience or are impacted by any form of sexual harassment or misconduct.

Members of our university community who would benefit from support at this time are encouraged to seek confidential assistance from one of UNC’s available resources. The UNC Counseling Center provides professional counseling services to enrolled students free of charge. Students may contact the Counseling Center to make an appointment at 970-351-2496 or use their after-hours crisis support line by choosing option 2 on the Counseling Center’s voicemail. Employees who need support are encouraged to access our Employee Assistance Program. Students, faculty, and staff may also access counseling via the Psychological Services Clinic, which operates in the College of Education and Behavioral Sciences.

Additionally, UNC’s Assault Survivors Advocacy Program provides confidential 24-hour crisis response services and has advocates available to speak to students, faculty, and staff about resources and available services.

Please know that the University of Northern Colorado remains steadfast in condemning any form of sexual harassment or misconduct and in supporting anyone who has been personally impacted.

Sincerely,
