Fellow Bears,

I am writing to share with you that Michelle Quinn, Senior Vice President of Finance and Administration and Chief Financial Officer, will be leaving UNC on June 17. Michelle has accepted a position as Vice President of Finance and Administration and Chief Financial Officer at Colorado Mesa University.

Michelle will soon leave UNC after nearly 23 years of service. She joined the university community in the summer of 1999 as the Budget Director, then was promoted to Assistant Vice President of Finance. For the last 12-plus years, Michelle has led the Division of Finance and Administration as the Chief Financial Officer and Senior Vice President. In this position, Michelle has not only managed the university’s budget, but she has also overseen human resources, campus police, facilities, information and technology, risk management, and since February 2021, enrollment management.

Michelle has been a well-respected leader on campus for her 22-plus years of service. In the nearly four years that I have had the pleasure of working with Michelle, she has been a trusted advisor and a steady leader through some turbulent times. I cannot thank her enough for her work to help us address the financial challenges the university was facing early on in my presidency. She is a great partner and a valuable member of our leadership team – I will miss her and I know that sentiment is felt by many across the university community. Michelle is someone who deeply cares for UNC and she will always be a part of our Bear family. Please join me in thanking Michelle for her tremendous work at UNC.

Dale Pratt, Assistant Vice President for Finance, will be the Interim Vice President of Finance and Administration and Chief Financial Officer at the university after Michelle’s departure in June. A search for the full-time Vice President of Finance and Administration and CFO will be launched immediately – we will keep the campus community updated as the search progresses.
