Fellow Bears,
I hope everyone has had an enjoyable start to their summer. Campus is certainly not the same without all of our students and faculty present, but we continue our critical work to ensure the university is ready for everyone’s return in August.
I am writing to share some news about our organizational structure. Enrollment Management, which has been under the oversight of Michelle Quinn, Senior Vice President of Finance and Administration and Chief Financial Officer, for the last year-plus, will be shifted under Student Affairs, effective June 21 after Michelle’s departure. Therefore, Pete Lien, Assistant Vice President for Enrollment Management, will now report to Cedric Howard, Vice President of Student Affairs.
Enrollment Management has lived in a couple of different places within the organizational structure in the last few years, but I believe this move will be very effective and will remain in place for the foreseeable future. Cedric has a wealth of experience in enrollment management, including leading admissions/enrollment at SUNY Fredonia, the University of Washington, Tacoma, and the University of South Florida St. Petersburg. Cedric has been effective at increasing enrollment at previous institutions and implementing new, effective strategies around recruitment and retention. He has also presented on strategic enrollment management planning at higher ed conferences nationally and is highly regarded by his peers in this field. Cedric will serve as a great advisor to Pete and his team – his expertise in enrollment management will be welcomed and happily utilized.
I want to thank Cedric for his willingness to oversee enrollment management, adding to his responsibilities. I also want to thank Michelle for her leadership, including taking on enrollment management last year while already overseeing a large portfolio.
Rowing, Not Drifting,
Andy Feinstein
President
