Poudre Learning Center Girls Camp

Dr. Bywater-Reyes shows girls how to measure grain size on a river bar.

July 26, 2019

Dr. Bywater-Reyes visited a group of middle school girls attending the Poudre Learning Center's Science in Nature Research Camp for middle school girls to teach them about river science. The girls learned, with the help of graduate student Courtney Lanier, how to "read the river" and measure grain size data used in sediment transport calculations. Together, everyone calculated the minimum flow depth required to move the sediment on a gravel bar.
