Patricia Alvarez Valverde PhD MPH has an educational background in maternal and child health and health services research. Dr. Valverde has taught graduate level public health courses over the past 9 years including core courses, Latino health, and practice-based learning courses. She conducts extensive research on patient navigation, care coordination and community health work as director of the Patient Navigation and Community Health Worker Training Program. She collaborates on various projects including the Veterans Health Administration and clinical faculty on the implementation of health navigators serving Rural Native Veterans and training Kidney condition navigators to address structural racism. She also works in nicotine and tobacco control, having chaired and been a member of the Tobacco Reviewed Committee which is responsible for funding tobacco prevention and control efforts across Colorado. Dr. Valverde was the interim director of the Latino Research and Policy Center during 2021-2024 within the Department of Community and Behavioral Health at the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus, Colorado School of Public Health.
