McNair Scholars Program
Namaste!
It turns out you can go home again – I have recently found my way back to Northern Colorado and back to the McNair Scholars program.
I was born and raised in Loveland, completed my undergraduate degree in economics at Colorado College, and pursued my graduate work in public policy and political economy at Claremont Graduate School in Southern California.
I have spent my professional career fostering student success, from directing academic support centers to helping students find colleges that will fully develop each student’s potential. While in Claremont, I had the opportunity to work with diverse populations by developing and delivering many programs for students including McNair Scholars.
As an instructor, I strive to cultivate an interactive environment where students can express themselves freely while learning to engage ideas in meaningful ways. My goal is not only to promote students’ intellectual engagement with their topics but also to help them become more discerning observers and analytical thinkers about the world. In addition, I attempt to incorporate opportunities for the one-on-one instruction inherent in writing center work because I believe these personalized interactions can stimulate great leaps in students’ development as writers and thinkers. More than anything, I aim to help students develop robust analytical and rhetorical skills that can transfer to any discipline or situation.
