My name is Gisselle Lopez Hernandez, I was born and raised in Greeley, Colorado. This will be my third year at UNC, and my major is Political science with minors in Legal Studies and Mexican American Studies. After undergrad, my goal is to become an immigration attorney and offer non-profit services. I have never met an immigration lawyer who looked like me, and that has motivated me to pursue law school, because I want an undocumented individual that is in a legal problem to feel comfortable and trust me when they see a person of color will help them in a situation that already feels controlled by white people throughout the entire system/process. A fun fact about me is that I’m in Mexico during all my school breaks, and thanks to that I have become so connected to myself and roots. I consider Mexico my home, and I hope to earn a law degree there as well.
