Elsa Yehdego

My name is Elsa Yehdego. I was born and raised in Axum, Ethiopia. Currently, I am a first-generation student at the University of Northern Colorado in my senior year. I am majoring in International Affairs with an emphasis in the Middle East and Africa and pursuing a double-minor in Africana Studies and Recreation, Tourism and Hospitality. I am a member of Stryker Institute for Leadership Development, and the former President of African Students United. Through my experiences as a student leader on campus, my educational focus has been on single mothers and their children within developing countries. My ultimate career goal is to create a non-profit organization that will assist families in securing housing, food, and educational opportunities. Nevertheless, I also plan on working for the U.S Embassy as a foreign affairs officer in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia after pursuing my master’s degree in International Development.
