Biography

Hello fellow bears! My name is Ariana. I am a fourth-year student studying Psychology and Philosophy. I transferred to UNCO from Sierra College in Rocklin, CA where I earned my associates degrees in Psychology and Sociology with honors. My heart is happy when exploring sexuality and relationship research, and when anticipating great food and travel. You can often find me at coffee shops, or floating around the psychology department- working with Psi Chi as their Vice President, learning from great faculty researchers, or attending the front desk. It’s hard to believe I will be presenting my own research (Friendly or Sexy: The Implications of Gender and Power Differentials for Error Management Theory) and graduating this spring. I want to thank the McNair program for supporting me in my wildest research and post-baccalaureate dreams. I am so excited to be wrapping up my time at UNCO doing so many fun, and delightfully nerdy activities. I am proud to share that I will be serving as an instructor’s aid for Dr. Kole’s Psychological Statistics and Design course (PSYC 200), continuing my role as a Research Assistant in Dr. Woody’s Psychology and the Law Research Team, and beginning an internship with SAVA, where I will be mentoring middle and high school students learning about healthy relationships and sexuality as part of the Sexual Assault Resource Team (SART). Additionally, I will be training to work with SAVA’s Direct Victim Response Team to support victims of sexual assault over the phone, in hospital care or elsewhere. I am looking forward to gaining experience through all of these opportunities, getting into graduate school, and continuing working towards becoming Dr. Ariana Jimenez Borroto. Talk to me about research or my favorite band, The Doors! Thanks for reading, peace and love.
