Our Mission
Teaching and Learning librarians support students’ academic, personal, and professional success by empowering them to use information critically and to create new knowledge.
We take pride in developing and delivering information literacy instruction and co-curricular programming in collaboration with campus partners. Our practices are research-based and informed by sociocultural approaches, critical information literacy, and the evolving information landscape.
What is Information Literacy?
Information Literacy is the set of integrated abilities encompassing the reflective discovery of information, the understanding of how information is produced and valued, and the use of information in creating new knowledge and participating ethically in communities of learning (ACRL Framework for Information Literacy for Higher Education).
What We Do
Librarians create engaging course-embedded library instruction, both in-person and through Zoom. We provide online learning objects, such as guides and tutorials, to address a variety of learning needs. We also offer several credit-bearing information literacy courses. Library instruction is mapped to defined student learning outcomes, assessed, and measured against pre-determined benchmarks for continuous improvement.
