Descriptive Guide to Michener Library Second Floor

Locations on the second floor of Michener Library are listed below, starting as users reach the top of the stairs. The list starts with the locations nearest the stairs, first to the left of the stairs, then to the right.

On the Left

• Study Rooms 231A, 231B, 231C

  Turn left and proceed straight. On the right is an alcove with a table and chairs. Turn right after the alcove. Proceed straight. The study rooms are on the right (231C, 231B, 231A, in that order).

• Periodicals A-P

  Turn left and proceed straight. At the corner, turn left. Proceed straight. The shelves with periodicals A-P are just ahead. This location is approximately at the halfway point of the shelves. Periodicals beginning with A are on the left. Periodicals beginning with P are on the right.

• Computers

  Turn left and proceed straight. One group of computers is on the left. Another group of computers is on the right, slightly farther away.

• Youth Collection

  Turn left and proceed straight. Pass a group of computers on the left. The youth collection is just ahead.

• K-12 Teaching Resources

  Turn left and proceed straight. Pass a group of computers on the left. The youth collection is just ahead. At the youth collection, turn right. Proceed straight through an open area with tables and chairs. The K-12 teaching resources are on the left.

• Michener Stacks A-F

  Turn left and proceed straight. On the right is an alcove with a table and chairs. Turn right after the alcove. Proceed straight, past study rooms on the right. The shelves are just ahead. This location is approximately at the halfway point of the shelves. Call numbers beginning with A are on the left. Call numbers beginning with F are on the right.

• Restrooms and Water Fountains

  Turn left and proceed straight. On the right is an alcove with a table and chairs. Turn right after the alcove. Proceed straight, past study rooms on the right. At the corner, turn right. At the next corner, just ahead, turn right. The womens restroom is on the right. The mens restroom is on the left.

  There is a water fountain outside each restroom. The water fountain on the left has a water bottle filler.

  
  There is a gender-neutral restroom available on the first floor.

• Elevator

  Turn left and proceed straight. On the right is an alcove with a table and chairs. Turn right after the alcove. Proceed straight, past study rooms on the right. At the corner, turn right. At the next corner, just ahead, turn right. The elevator is ahead and slightly on the left, past the restrooms and water fountains, through a doorway.

• Study Room 258

  Turn left and proceed straight. On the right is an alcove with a table and chairs. Turn right after the alcove. Proceed straight, past study rooms on the right. Proceed straight to the book shelves, then turn left. Please note that there are step stools at the end of some rows. Proceed straight to the end of the shelves, then turn right. Study room 258 is just ahead, in the corner. The door is slightly to the right.

• Periodicals P-Z

  Turn left and proceed straight. At the corner, turn left. Proceed straight. The shelves with periodicals A-P are just ahead. Turn right at the shelves. Proceed straight to the end of the shelves. Please note that there are step stools at the end of some rows. At the end of the shelves, turn right. The shelves with periodicals P-Z are on the right. This location is at the beginning of the shelves. Periodicals beginning with P are here. The shelves continue on the right.

• Study Room 249

  Turn left and proceed straight. At the corner, turn left. Proceed straight. The shelves with periodicals A-P are just ahead. Turn right at the shelves. Proceed straight to the end of the shelves. Please note that there are step stools at the end of some rows. At the end of the shelves, turn left. Study room 249 is just ahead, in the corner. The door is slightly to the left.

• Study Room 254

  Turn left and proceed straight. On the right is an alcove with a table and chairs. Turn right after the alcove. Proceed straight, past study rooms on the right. The shelves with Michener stacks A-F are just ahead. Proceed straight between two of the shelves to the south wall, then turn right. Study room 254 is just ahead, on the left.

On the Right

• Study Room 201A

  Turn right, then quickly turn left. Study room 201A is on the left, just before the service desk.

• Service Desk

  Turn right and proceed straight. The service desk is just ahead, on the left.

• Study Rooms 201B, 201C, 201D, 201E

  Turn right and proceed straight ahead. Pass the service desk on the left, then turn left. Study room 201B is on the left. Proceed straight. At the corner, turn left. Study rooms 201C, 201D, and 201E are on the left, in that order.

• Microforms

  Turn right and proceed straight. Pass the service desk on the left, then turn right. Proceed straight through an open area with tables and chairs. The shelves with periodicals A-P are ahead. Turn left at the shelves. Microforms are on the left.

• Study Room 226

  Turn right and proceed straight. Pass the service desk on the left, then turn right. Proceed straight through an open area with tables and chairs. The shelves with periodicals A-P area ahead. Turn left at the shelves. Proceed straight to the end of the periodical shelving. At the end of the shelves, turn right. Study room 226 is just ahead, in the corner. The door is slightly to the left.

• Computers and Printers

  Turn right and proceed straight ahead. Pass the service desk on the left, then turn left. Two groups of computers, and the printers, are on the right.

• Video / DVD Collection

  Turn right and proceed straight. Pass the service desk on the left, then turn left. Proceed straight past the computers on the right, then turn right. Proceed straight. The video / DVD collection is ahead. This location is the beginning of the video / DVD collection. The shelves continue on the right.

• Recording Room (217)

  Turn right and proceed straight. Pass the service desk on the left. Proceed straight through an open area with tables and chairs. Pass the video / DVD collection on the left. At the end of the video / DVD collection, turn left. Proceed straight. The recording room is ahead, in the corner. The door is slightly to the left.
