Before arriving at the University of Northern Colorado, Joseph taught political science at the United States Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Joseph continues his association with the Air Force Academy as a Non-Resident Scowcroft National Security Fellow.
Joseph’s primary research focuses on the Russian Federation analyzing both domestic politics as well as Russia’s role in the world. Specifically, his research focuses on contentious politics with a focus on protests and revolutions in eastern Europe. His research interests include protest movements and contentious politics in the Russian Federation with a focus on evaluating the connection between economic decline and protest activity. He has taught an array of courses on American National Security, American Government, Comparative Politics, and International Relations at several different institutions.
Joseph is currently a Non-Resident Scowcroft National Security Fellow with the United States Air Force Academy where he writes on Russian strategic culture and national security innovation with a focus on Russia’s impact on American national security.
