David Ross, DO graduated from Western University of the Health Sciences’ College of Osteopathic Medicine of the Pacific. After internship, he served as a flight surgeon in both the active-duty and reserve Air Force. He later completed a residency in emergency medicine practiced emergency medicine for over two decades at Penrose Hospital and St. Francis Medical Center in Colorado Springs, CO. During that time, he became a medical director for many emergency medical services (EMS) agencies and fire departments across the State of Colorado. Immediately prior to taking his current position at UNC COM, Dr. Ross was Director of the Rural and Wilderness Medicine Track at Rocky Vista University (RVU) in Englewood, CO. He also was a faculty member in RVU’s Office of Simulation in Medicine and Surgery and, until Fall 2022, was course director of the first two years of RVU’s Military Medicine Program.
