Bear News has brought news effectively and timely every Friday and along with the news, weather has remained an essential aspect of our newscast. Sam Parker, or as he’s known among his peers, “Weather Sam,” has been in front of your screen predicting the weather.
Sam, as a young Oklahoman, was invested in weather. While others would shy away from tornadoes and weather inclemencies, Sam developed a “thrill and excitement.” But his presence in Bear News did not come from his own will, rather it was nothing but a stroke of luck.
“I did not know about Bear News until some of my older classmates,” he said. But Sam as a meteorologist major did not shy away at the opportunity, and has been a highlight to Bear News according to Bear News instructor Shawn Montano.
“Sam brings a lot of energy to the newscast, he knows his stuff and is very good delivering it.” Professor Montano also highlighted Sam’s “good attitude.” The work seen on the screen is a work put on by many people from graphics to numbers and research. But Sam’s career is barely beginning and whether the weather is accurate or not, you can be sure to count on Sam to be there to enlighten us with his predictions.
