It’s almost Valentine’s Day which means it’s time once again for business management major Paetyn Fritzler to roll up her sleeves and bake some sweet treats.

“I’ve basically been baking my entire life,” Friztler said. “My grandma taught me to bake. When I was ten, I got my first Kitchen-Aid mixer.”

Her love of baking inspired her to start selling treats on Valentine’s Day to people throughout the UNC community. She has sold her treats annually for the past three years.

“I think I realized that I have some skill in the area and I figured it was a good way to be able to start my own business,” Fritzler said.

Fritzler saw selling baked goods on Valentine’s Day as the perfect way to blend her love of baking and her love of the holiday with her dream of one day owning a catering company.

She offers a wide variety of baked goods for customers to choose from, including: customizable cookie cakes, chocolate-covered strawberries, M&M cookies and iced sugar cookies. Her cookie cakes come in two different sizes and can have anything written on them in frosting, from “be mine” to a partner’s name to an inside joke. Customers can also choose what flavors of frosting they would like on the cake.

Since baking is her passion, Fritlzer bakes for fun year-round. If the public shows interest, she looks forward to expanding her business to sell baked goods throughout the year.

She hopes her baking spreads feelings of love and care during Valentine’s Day.

“I hope they feel special, like someone cares about them,” Fritzler said. “Getting a treat homemade for you is always something special.”

The deadline to order Fritzler’s Valentine’s treats is coming up fast, so be sure to place your orders soon. She is accepting orders until Feb. 7, but may extend this deadline a bit if needed. Orders will be available for pickup or delivery on Valentine’s Day, Feb. 14.

To place an order, customers can visit either of Fritzler’s Instagram pages – madebypaetyn or paetynavery – and fill out the form.
