Every year, Valentine’s Day rolls around as a holiday celebrating love and romance. But for the single folks at UNC, Rachel Dineen and the Michner Library staff held an event for you.
In the basement of the library, the staff held a Palentine’s Pub Trivia Night. At the event, students got in teams of three or four to test their local trivia knowledge and potentially win prizes. The night was split into three rounds, and the winners of each round received some library swag. Each round had about 10 questions, and a category; UNC History; Pop Culture; and Valentine’s Day. Besides the small prizes from the “swag bucket,” the group that answered the most questions correctly at the end of the night won a few gift cards.
This event coincides with multiple events the staff are holding in celebration of the 50th anniversary of the library. It is the most recent event held concurrently with an exhibit about the history of the library, and how it has changed over the past 50 years. Even though the library officially turned 50 in October, it has been a catalyst to hold new events for the student body’s wellbeing.
“We’re evolving to more holistic support, and we want to support whole students,” said Rachel Dineen, a teaching and outreach librarian as well as an assistant professor at the University of Northern Colorado.
